Tribute to my grandad
My grandad was the greatest man that I've ever known. A man who believed in simple living and greater thinking. He liked structure and routine, but enjoyed the little things in life.
When he became ill it was a tragedy, of all the people it was my grandad that had been hit with a brain tumor. The events that followed turned our lives upside down but the whole family grew closer to pray for his health. It was amazing how the family was pulled together to work towards the cause of making his time as comfortable and as peaceful as possible. We all put aside stresses and tensions that we had in our own routines and drew closer to arrange meetings, rotas and responsibilities in order to give him the highest quality of care.
When his time came to an end, there was an atmosphere of peace and serenity that filled the house. The whole family, including his wife, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, his brother's family and his brother in-law's family had surrounded his bed when he was in a coma taking his last breath. Finally when he took his last breath, he opened his eyes and softly he breathed out. At this point we were praying for the peace of his soul. As he left the body there was nothing else but a sense of calm in the air. Such a peaceful passing made me think of all the spirituality in my grandad as a human being that allowed his passing to happen with such ease and freedom. The fact that he had a tumor and by the end of his time, he had no normal function in the brain, such as memory, knowing who people are or where he is, allowed his mind to be detached and let him pass with great ease and detachment. It truly was a blessing.
A testament to who is was as a human being:
The King of Kings Road
who sat upon his chair
He didn’t say much
but was observing everywhere
The constant gardener
who had a love for nature
He was a spiritualist
and appreciated every creature
A particular man
who ran everything like clockwork
Life became easier
after the many years of hard work
Bapuji was very independent
and liked to go for a walk
A man of action
who didn’t like small talk
He had a subtle smile
that lifted the mood
He loved being with family
and sharing good food
He liked his home
to be in order
Everything in its place
and within its border
Bapuji...
You walked beside us everyday
unseen, unheard, but always near.
You will live in our hearts forever
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
